Leyland Cypress (Cupressus × leylandii) is the classic privacy conifer, prized for speed. Its soft, feathery sprays of flat, blue-green to deep-green foliage form a dense, columnar-to-pyramidal pillar that holds its color through every season. With a fast growth rate and a mature size of 40 to 60 feet tall and 10 to 15 feet wide, it is built for tall screens, windbreaks, and property-line privacy where you want height in a hurry.
Why growers choose the Leyland Cypress
- Fast privacy. One of the quickest-growing evergreens available, it can add several feet per year and close gaps along a fence line within a few seasons.
- Year-round screen. The dense, feathery foliage stays evergreen and full to the ground when young, blocking sightlines and softening wind in every season.
- Soft, handsome color. Flat sprays of blue-green to rich green give a fine, graceful texture that reads softer than a stiff arborvitae or spruce.
- Tough and adaptable. Thrives in full sun across a wide climate range, tolerates a variety of soils, and handles coastal and salt-spray sites better than most conifers.
- Deer tend to leave it alone. Far less browsed than arborvitae, making it a more reliable screen where deer pressure is high.
Planted in a single row, Leyland Cypress quickly becomes a living privacy hedge or windbreak; given room as a standalone specimen, it grows into a tall, graceful pyramid. Just give it the space its full size demands — this is a big tree, and crowding it invites disease.

STOCK PRODUCTS - Stock products at UncommonWares are carefully curated and often in limited quantities. If you're lucky enough to grab some UW goods before they sell out, we feel certain you will enjoy your purchases. If for whatever reason stock items purchased need to be returned, please be sure it's in new, unused condition, in its original packaging and returned to the store within 15 days of purchase. Online Orders: Shipping charges are non-refundable and any return shipping cost incurred will not be reimbursed unless the product arrived damaged or incorrect product was sent. NOTE: Only stock, non-custom/non-personalized products can be returned.
CUSTOM PRODUCTS - UncommonWares custom products are created as ordered, therefore, all personalized/custom product sales are final. It is rare, but if your item arrives damaged or is defective, it must be reported within 10 business days for replacement. Simply email 4service@uncommonwares.com with a photo of the damage and any details about your order so we can efficiently process your replacement.
Please note that as a result of different textures and finishes colors will vary on products whether digitally imprinted or dyed. Products from separate dye lots may result in color shift. We always recommend coordinating instead of matching. In addition, what is shown on your screen may vary from your finished product. Slight color shifts are not considered defective and therefore cannot be returned nor replaced.
