'Black Knight' (Buddleia davidii 'Black Knight') is the classic for a reason: long, arching panicles packed in the richest violet-black of any butterfly bush, set against gray-green willow-like foliage. Each fragrant spike opens from summer into fall, and the fast-growing, fountain-shaped habit fills out to a graceful 4 to 6 feet in a single season. Plant it where you want movement and color — this is a magnet for pollinators and a reliable source of late-season fragrance and cut stems.
Why growers choose 'Black Knight'
- The deepest color in the class. Its blue-purple flowers run nearly black at the base, a saturated tone few other cultivars match.
- Months of bloom. Flowering carries from summer through fall, and removing spent spikes keeps fresh spikes coming right up to frost.
- A true pollinator magnet. The nectar-rich, honey-scented panicles pull in butterflies, bees, and hummingbirds all season.
- Fast and forgiving. A fast grower in full sun, it shrugs off heat and lean soil once established and reaches mature size quickly.
- Deer tend to leave it alone. The aromatic foliage is generally passed over by browsing deer, a welcome trait in country and woodland-edge gardens.

STOCK PRODUCTS - Stock products at UncommonWares are carefully curated and often in limited quantities. If you're lucky enough to grab some UW goods before they sell out, we feel certain you will enjoy your purchases. If for whatever reason stock items purchased need to be returned, please be sure it's in new, unused condition, in its original packaging and returned to the store within 15 days of purchase. Online Orders: Shipping charges are non-refundable and any return shipping cost incurred will not be reimbursed unless the product arrived damaged or incorrect product was sent. NOTE: Only stock, non-custom/non-personalized products can be returned.
CUSTOM PRODUCTS - UncommonWares custom products are created as ordered, therefore, all personalized/custom product sales are final. It is rare, but if your item arrives damaged or is defective, it must be reported within 10 business days for replacement. Simply email 4service@uncommonwares.com with a photo of the damage and any details about your order so we can efficiently process your replacement.
Please note that as a result of different textures and finishes colors will vary on products whether digitally imprinted or dyed. Products from separate dye lots may result in color shift. We always recommend coordinating instead of matching. In addition, what is shown on your screen may vary from your finished product. Slight color shifts are not considered defective and therefore cannot be returned nor replaced.
